Echoes Of Emmett: Teen Public Showcase 05/08/16

The Echoes of Emmett The Teen Public Showcase brings together middle through high school aged students from across the community around the themes that are present in the Emmett Till story so that their voices are heard through the art they create. The Echoes of Emmett workshops are a collaboration between local teens with the most vibrant local artists, painters, performance artists, rappers, film producers, professors, teachers, African American historians and Black Lives Matter activists to create works to be showcased to the larger community.

On Friday 19th, Opal Tometi met and spoke with the Champaign-Urbana Black Lives Matter chapter at the University YMCA to discuss police brutality, city budgets overspending police departments, and root causes within racial injustice.
